About Coptic Cairo and Fustat

South of the centre, by the Mar Girgis metro station, Coptic Cairo stands inside the walls of the Roman fortress of Babylon: the Hanging Church, the Coptic Museum, the Church of St Sergius and the Ben Ezra Synagogue. Beyond lies Fustat, the first Islamic capital of Egypt, now home to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization and its royal mummies.
