About Aswan, Philae and Abu Simbel

Aswan is the Nile at its loveliest: feluccas sailing between the granite islands, Elephantine opposite the Corniche, and the temple of Philae, rescued from the waters and rebuilt on Agilkia island. The Nubian Monuments from Abu Simbel to Philae are a UNESCO World Heritage Site; Abu Simbel lies far to the south, by road or air. The Sofitel Legend Old Cataract, opened in 1899, looks over the river from its terrace.

Philae

The temple of Isis, moved to Agilkia island.

Take a felucca at sunset, then tea on the Old Cataract terrace.

Abu Simbel

The great temples of Ramesses II, moved above the waters of the High Dam.

Our advice: go to Abu Simbel very early, by the first convoy or flight.
