About The Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx

The Giza Plateau is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Memphis and its Necropolis – the Pyramid Fields from Giza to Dahshur”. The Great Pyramid was built for Khufu in the Fourth Dynasty, with the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure beside it and the Great Sphinx below. The visitor entrance is now on the Cairo–Fayoum road, with a visitor centre and shuttle buses between the stops on the plateau. The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities lists the Great Pyramid from 7am to 5pm; the area ticket and the tickets inside the pyramids are sold separately, at the site’s machines or on the ministry’s official site.
